Saving & Sharing Projects

Automatic saving

Circzy saves your projects automatically in the browser while you work: the circuit, the code or blocks, the project name and the board. The Save button in the top bar saves immediately and confirms with Project saved.

Projects open in several browser tabs stay in sync: changes made in one tab appear in the others.

Managing projects

TaskHow
CreateHome page › board card › Start Simulation, then choose Blocks or Sketch. Or, in the workspace, open the arrow next to the project name and choose New project to go back to the home page and pick a board.
OpenClick a project in My Projects on the home page, or pick it from the project menu in the workspace.
RenameClick the project name in the top bar and type.
DeleteClick the trash icon on the project card in My Projects.
SearchUse the search box on the home page; it matches boards and project names.

Downloading

WhatWhereResult
Whole projectDownload in the top bar, or Files › Download › Project<name>.circzy.json
Program onlyFiles › Download › sketch.inosketch.ino for the Arduino IDE
Circuit onlyFiles › Download › diagram.jsondiagram.json

The .circzy.json file contains everything needed to rebuild the project: board, mode, blocks, sketch and circuit. Its format is described in Project File Format.

Importing

  1. On the home page, click Import project in My Projects.
  2. Choose a .circzy.json file (older .elka.json files from earlier versions work too).

The project opens immediately. If a project with the same name exists, the imported copy gets a number added to its name.

Sharing with others

Send the .circzy.json file by email, chat or a shared drive. Anyone with Circzy can import it and get exactly the same circuit and program.

Projects from earlier versions

Projects created with earlier versions of Circzy (including those named ELKA) are converted automatically when they are opened or imported:
