Workspace Tour
The workspace is where you build a project. It has a top bar, an editor on the left and the simulation on the right.
Home page
The home page is the starting point:
- Board cards list every supported board. Use the chips (All, Arduino, ESP32, ESP8266, Raspberry Pi Pico, STM32, Other) or the search box to filter them. Click Start Simulation on a card and choose Blocks or Sketch to create a project.
- My Projects lists your projects, newest first. Click a project to open it, or the trash icon to delete it.
- Import project opens a
.circzy.jsonfile (older.elka.jsonfiles are accepted too).
Top bar
| Element | What it does |
|---|---|
| Logo | Returns to the home page. |
| Project name | Click to rename the project. The arrow next to it lists your other projects; New project returns to the home page to pick a board. |
| Save | Saves the project now. Projects are also saved automatically. |
| Download | Downloads the project as a .circzy.json file. |
| Board and mode chips | Show the board and whether the project uses Blocks or Sketch. |
| Docs | Opens this documentation in a new tab. |
| ⋮ (small screens) | On narrow windows, the board name, Docs, language, theme and home buttons move into this menu. |
| EN/ID | Switches the interface language. |
| Sun/moon | Switches between light and dark themes. |
| House | Returns to the home page. |
Left rail
The narrow rail on the far left switches the left panel. Click the active icon again to return to the code editor:
| Icon | Panel |
|---|---|
| Folder | Files: open any project file and download the project, sketch.ino or diagram.json. |
| Code | Code: the editor tabs (Blocks, sketch.ino, diagram.json, Library Manager). |
| Gear | Settings: theme, language and code font size. |
Editor tabs
| Tab | Content |
|---|---|
| Blocks | The block editor (Blocks projects only). See Block Editor. |
| sketch.ino | The Arduino program. Editable in Sketch projects, read-only in Blocks projects. See Sketch Editor. |
| diagram.json | The circuit as text. Valid edits are applied immediately. See diagram.json Format. |
| Library Manager | Search and install Arduino libraries. See Libraries. |
In a Blocks project, the Convert to Sketch button appears above the block editor. It asks for confirmation, then turns the project into a Sketch project using the generated code; this cannot be undone.
Drag the divider between the editor and the simulation to resize them. On small screens (phones and narrow windows), use the Editor / Simulation switch below the top bar to show one of them at a time.
Simulation panel
| Element | What it does |
|---|---|
| ▶ / ■ | Compiles and starts the simulation, or stops it. |
| ⋮ menu | Restart (while running), Show/Hide Serial Monitor and Mute/Unmute sound. |
| Status | Ready, Compiling..., Running or Failed. While other compilations are running, it shows your place in the queue. |
| Timer | The simulated time since the program started. |
| Canvas | The circuit. Drag to move parts, click pins to draw wires, scroll to zoom. |
| Zoom buttons | Zoom in, zoom out and fit the whole circuit in view. |
| Hint bar | Short instructions for what you are doing right now. |
When compilation fails, a Compilation Error panel shows the compiler message below the editor. See Running the Simulation.
